  • Mercedes AMG GT / GTC / GTS / GTR (C190 / R190) 4.0 V8 2015-2021

Downpipes AMG GT / GTC / GTS / GTR C190/R190 4.0i V8 with 200-cell High Flow Catalytic Converters are designed to replace the stock OEM downpipes and catalytic converters on these vehicles. The BRONDEX® catted downpipes a significant performance upgrade for the Mercedes AMG GT, GTC, GTS and GTR and can make a noticeable difference in how the car performs and sounds.

  • Performance Enhancement:
Downpipes for AMG GT / GTC / GTS / GTR C190/R190 with 200-cell high-flow catalytic converters offer a significant improvement in exhaust flow compared to the stock catalytic converters. This results in an increase in power, improved throttle response, and reduced turbo lag.
The BRONDEX® downpipes improve overall engine efficiency by allowing exhaust gases to exit faster and more freely.
  • Sound Improvement: The BRONDEX® catted downpipes contribute to a more aggressive exhaust tone, giving the Mercedes AMG a louder, deeper, and sportier sound. The high-flow catalytic converters also help in reducing unwanted exhaust drone.
  • Design and Materials: The BRONDEX® downpipes have a larger diameter than stock pipes to accommodate increased exhaust flow. For AMG V8 engines, downpipes range from 3,3 to 3 inches (84mm to 76mm) in diameter, which helps improve power delivery and reduce backpressure.
The BRONDEX® catted downpipes are constructed from high-grade stainless steel (304), ensuring durability, heat resistance, and corrosion protection, which are essential for high-performance cars like the AMG GT series.
  • Bolt-On Installation: The BRONDEX® catted downpipes are designed for easy installation, with a direct bolt-on configuration, meaning no modifications to the car's stock exhaust system are required.
Retains compatibility with the factory mounting points and sensors, ensuring a smooth installation process (V-band clamps included).
  • Made in Europe: The European origin ensures that BRONDEX® products adhere to strict quality control and standards, making them a popular choice for enthusiasts who want both performance and durability in their exhaust systems (3-year warranty provided by BRONDEX®).
  • Worldwide Shipping:
Whether you’re based in Europe, the U.S., Asia, or elsewhere, you can order BRONDEX® products and have them shipped to your location.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Downpipe?

Downpipe is a component of a vehicle’s exhaust system that channels exhaust gases from the turbocharger to the rest of the exhaust system. It connects the turbo to the mid-pipe and plays a key role in optimizing exhaust flow. By replacing the restrictive factory catalytic converter, a downpipe allows exhaust gases to flow more freely from the turbocharger. In turbocharged engines, this reduces backpressure, enabling the turbo to spool faster and more efficiently, resulting in increased power output, especially at higher RPMs.

How Does a Downpipe Increase Horsepower?

  1. Improved Exhaust Flow: A downpipe replaces the restrictive factory catalyst, allowing exhaust gases to flow more freely from the turbocharger. In turbocharged engines, this reduces backpressure, allowing the turbo to spool more quickly and efficiently. The result is an increase in power output, especially at higher RPMs.
  2. Reduced Backpressure: Stock OEM catalysts often contain restrictive catalytic converters designed to meet emissions standards, which can hinder performance. Upgraded downpipes, especially "catless" or "high-flow catted" versions, reduce this restriction, allowing the engine to breathe better and operate more efficiently.
  3. Boost Gains: By improving exhaust flow, the turbocharger can spool up faster and achieve higher boost levels, translating into greater engine power. The faster the turbo reaches its peak boost, the more quickly the engine can generate additional horsepower and torque.
  4. Expected Power Gains: On turbocharged vehicles, including many AUDI, BMW and Mercedes models, downpipes can provide power gains in the range of 20 to 60 horsepower and more when combined with ECU tune. The actual gains depend on the car's engine, other modifications, and whether you use a high-flow catalytic converter or opt for a catless downpipe.

Is downpipe good for engine?

Downpipe can be very beneficial for your engine, by improving performance, reducing turbo lag, and lowering exhaust gas temperatures. However, it requires careful instalation and a proper ECU tune to avoid issues. If all done correctly, it can be a great upgrade without harming the engine.

What is the difference between stock catalytic converter and sports catalytic converter?

A stock catalytic converter has a high cell density (typically around 800/900 cells per square inch), which maximizes emissions reduction but restricts exhaust flow, limiting performance. A 200-cell sports catalytic converter has a lower cell density, allowing for significantly better airflow, increased horsepower. The exact performance gains can vary depending on the vehicle's tune and driving conditions. High quality Stainless Steel construction and special precious metal wash coat delivers consistent emissions reduction, with a significant reduction in size and weight.

What is the difference between catless downpipes and catted downpipes

Catless downpipes lack a catalytic converter, allowing for maximum exhaust flow, increased performance, and a louder exhaust note, but they produce more emissions and can trigger a check engine light. Catted downpipes include a high-flow catalytic converter, offering a balance between performance and emissions compliance while producing a slightly quieter exhaust.

What warranty applies to BRONDEX® downpipes?
