Material and Construction: The downpipes begin with a larger diameter of 89 mm (3.5 inches) at the turbo flange, which then reduces to 76 mm (3 inches) towards the mid-section or the exhaust system. This gradual reduction is designed to optimize exhaust gas flow from the turbocharger into the rest of the exhaust system, minimizing restrictions and turbulence while maintaining sufficient velocity for efficient scavenging.
The downpipes are constructed with 2 mm thick stainless steel tubing, which strikes a balance between durability and weight. The thicker walls ensure structural strength, resistance to cracking, and longevity, even under extreme heat and pressure. BRONDEX® downpipes are made from high-quality stainless steel (304), which offers excellent durability, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance. This ensures that the downpipes can withstand the high temperatures generated by the Audi RS6's twin-turbo V8 engine and maintain long-term structural integrity. The downpipes are constructed using TIG welding. This type of welding ensures that the downpipes can handle extreme stress and high temperatures without failure.
